A new year brings some great news for Salmon Arm. According to BC Business Magazine the City has been awarded the ranking of
6th most resilient place for work in all of British Columbia! This is a repeat showing for Salmon Arm in the top 10, as we climbed one spot from number 7 in 2020. Although last year's focus was on best places for work, it is worth noting that in either case we are in the top 10! Of further note in the 2021 report, Salmon Arm also claimed the highest ranked position outside of the lower mainland and Vancouver Island.
How did Salmon Arm achieve these rankings
(besides the obvious reason that we’re awesome)? The data used to determine standings is prepared by research company Environics Analytics, the same statistics company used for the
Maclean’s Magazine Best Communities to Live in 2019, where we placed 6th overall in Canada and 1st in BC. Salmon Arm’s high ranking is attributed to a growing population, increasing housing starts and diverse employment opportunities, among other categories. The Shuswap lifestyle makes Salmon Arm a small city that’s attracting big interest!
The City is growing its reputation as a place not only great for living, but also for expanding your career. If you’re an entrepreneur, Salmon Arm has amazing support programs for start-ups including
Launch-a-Preneur,
Shuswap Support Hub, SAEDS,
Tsuts’weye and
Community Futures (just to name a few). The City is also home to numerous emerging sectors that support expansive career opportunities. Our industrial park has almost 100 high tech and manufacturing firms, over 200 farms in the City limits, up-and-coming food and beverage processoring sector and vibrant businesses in the downtown core. Or maybe you already have a job and just need a better view? There are two coworking spaces in our downtown core that are ready to support all your remote working needs!
It’s clear from these standings that Salmon Arm offers the best of both worlds, an incredible lifestyle and the opportunity to grow the career you’ve always dreamed of.
