December 27, 2019In the fall of 2019, Maclean’s Magazine revealed its list of the Best Places To Live in Canada and of no surprise to local residents, Salmon Arm was ranked the top community across Western Canada. Further, this small city with big ideas was ranked number one across 415 Canadian cities for the Best Communities with Affordable Real Estate.

Using statistical data provided by Environics Analytics in the categories of economy, affordability, healthcare, weather, commute, crime, taxes, population growth, culture and amenities, Maclean’s Magazine weighted categories based on how important each would be to the average person and ranked each municipality in Canada accordingly…and Salmon Arm came out on top!
Dubbed a “Supercharged Small Town” Salmon Arm’s prosperity, lifestyle and affordability were all factors that elevated its ranking. The desirable small city attributes of safety, short commute time, and outdoor recreation coupled with its urban attributes of diverse and exciting job opportunities, arts and culture amenities and post-secondary education means Salmon Arm offers the best of both worlds. The word is out on Salmon Arm’s opportunities with the City seeing record-breaking development and upward trending population growth.
